You know, regarding how forced this is, I've kind of got a story. So I wrote this story where I parody Ed, Edd n' Eddy, using the characters in South Park; basically, I put them in a standard Ed, Edd n' Eddy episode plot, and sorted out which South Park character would take the role of each Ed, Edd n' Eddy character, while also sort of poking fun at things from the show (when they get attacked by the "Kanker sisters", Cartman screams: "REVERSE SEXUAL HARASSMENT!") Well, two things: First off, I had to give Ed's role to Stan, since none of the kids in South Park are considerably "stupid", and it wouldn't work with one of the adults. But you know what I did? I established Stan getting brain damaged at the beginning, to make his Ed-like behaviors seem more natural, and also give him a legitimate reason to be acting that way, you know, other than just pure plot convenience. Second, some idiot saw my story, and complained that Kenny should've been given Eddy's role, rather than Cartman, because "aside from being jerky and devious, Eddy is a boy of good feelings" So I had to explain to him that since this is a parody, I'm ignoring any depth any of the characters in Ed, Edd n' Eddy have; the South Park characters are supposed to be completely one-dimensional tropes of them. I'm focusing only on Eddy's jerky and devious side, which works MUCH better for Cartman than it does for Kenny. If you saw Cartman exhibiting all the behaviors that are typical for Eddy, you'd just say: "Oh, typical Cartman". But if you saw Kenny exhibiting all the behaviors that are typical for Eddy, you'd say: "What happened to Kenny? He's not acting in character at all!"

The "Catcher in the Rye" part of Quagmire's speech makes so much more sense to me now that I've finished reading that in English class.
